The Children

Of

2004

Yes, by golly the thrill of Santaland is the Children of all ages that pass by to say hello to Mr and Mrs Claus.  Yes it is thrilling, let no one kid you.  One has no idea what the little ones are about to ask or talk about.  There have perhaps been more wise ones in years past, but there were a few words of wisdom from the little ones this year.  Santa sends out an almost daily message - most these were saved from those messages.

Out of the clear blue she said, "I saw you in another Mall, I did not like you, so I cried". Then with a pause and deep sigh she continued "It was an accident".

Santa asked a three year old little girl, "How come you are so cute ??"  Her reply, "Because, I have not grown up yet".  Very very wise those three year olds.

Santa did get two hard requests from two little boys, each about four.  One wanted a pumpkin and the other a yellow John Deere.

An 8 year old gal started her list to Santa by saying, "When I start being good, I would like some Polly Pockets".  A little boy wanted 10,000 GI Joes, nine of them with parachutes.  Sort of a strange order of battle and little concept of numbers.

One little girl, however did want something a tad special for a girl, she wanted a fishing pole.  When Santa asked , 'What else ?'  Her reply, 'A worm.'

Santa could not hold the laughter:  When giving his list, someplace in the middle the four year old told Santa in a rather loud voice -- He did not want anymore Turkey -- his follow on comment "I have had enough".  With that he continued his list of toys.

A good many of the children talked about the snow this morning.  Santa felt sorry for two of them.  Santa asked a little girl if she played in the snow this morning.  Her answer, "No MaMa would not let me".  He also asked a little boy the same question.  His Grandma answered for him, "No because it would make him sick".  Oh well.

A four to five year old little boy was wise beyond words.  For his list he gave one item to Santa.  Santa asked, "Is there anything more ?"  The young man replied. "No, Grandpa and Grandma have the rest of my list".

Santa likes to call in the older children to sit, perhaps to sit for last time with a sister or brother.  One a week or so ago such brought tears to a Mother's eye.  Normally before the older one leaves, Santa whispers in their ear, "You know you made points with Mom and Dad".  Tonight a sparkly eyed 10 year old gal replied, "I know and I will collect".  Who are those that say kids do not have any street smarts any longer ?

A four year old boy asked, "Are you Santa ?"  Santa, "Yes".  The little one, "Do you come to my house ?"  Santa, "Yes"  He continued, "Do you leave things under the Christmas Tree ?"  Santa, "Yes"   He then responded, "Well Santa, I opened one this morning" A long pause, "It was a shirt for Dad ".
