August Picnic 2007

Several thought that the Home Station should not have a picnic for 2007.  They felt that it might be too hard on Ma as she was recovering from sugury some 4 weeks earlier.  Well Ma did just fine, of course she got tired, but it would have been a crime to deprive her of the joy she had seeing all the family around and about.

Thank you, thank you to all that helped once they arrived.  It was the wonderful help from the younger folks that made the picnic as great as always.   Again both Ma and Pa thank you - it was great to have your help and understanding.

Steve brought along two new arrivals for 2007.  First and most important a Wife by the name of Jacqueline.  She came by the way of Australia.  The second was a Golf Cart that gave he and Jacqueline great mobility around the Home Station and places near and not so near.

The menu for 2007 remained much the same.  Pa did rearrange the portions just a tad.  He came out even on the Crawdads - two five pound packages, and the mustard roasts - four in all.  He goofed on the shrimp, however - he had gotten four packages, well two would have been enough.  But, ya know the best part of the eats is all the great stuff that folks bring to share.  Yum yum, good.

As always lots of pictures were taken and shared.  Pictures this year come from Jacqueline, Juan and Pa.  Pa's camera contained many pictures taken by several unknown photo takers.  Do believe, however that Jason was the prime button pusher.

The yard, as always took on the look of  'tent city'.  The tenters for 2007 were treated with rain one night, and lots of it.  Several had a couple of inches of rain under the tent.  It seems that the ground cloth should not stick out beyond the the tent wall -- oh well.

Tent City

As always a good amount of time was spent talking and eating 0R IS IT eating and talking.  No matter which way it goes it is an enjoyabel passtime.  One should set around an converse more often, as it keeps the chairs warm.

Eating and Talking

Of course there was a campfire.  The fire was not as large as in the past years - it has been just plain DRY at the Home Station for the Summer of 2007.  Hence the fire was keep low and well under control.  Ya know what, however the hot dogs, fire pies, somemores, and all that good stuff  tasted great as always.  Also, no never mind the low fire did not delay nor detract from the Eucure Games and other enjoyment.

Campfire

The younger set took a couple of side trips for 2007.  One such adventure was a swim time at Higgins Lake.  Latter in the weekend, some went to Mackinaw City at the 'Top of the Mit'.  A many of folks went for a ride 'around and about' on Steve's Gulf Cart.

Side Trips

Most of all there is joy of having the extended family and friends about, and that means PEOPLE.  Yep, thos special people did show.  Many a picture was taken - this is what they all looked like.

People

Zach sent along some neat pictures taken on his Cell Phone.  Most were taken at the campfire.  Thus, on some ya will have to look close.  The effect is great.  It does appear that some were taken Friday night and on the trip to Mackinaw City.  They have been added for your enjoyment.
