Home Station
August Picnics

Picnics in Michigan are a great events.  Many an hour or day is spent setting, walking, running, eating and just plain having fun.  However, at the Home Station the Extended Family and Friends gather in early August each year.

Eats are scheduled for 1300 hours on Saturday.  Folks begin to arrive starting the weekend before.  Thus, it is a week long event in the Northwoods.  The younger ones and some families bring tents and the yard is turned into 'tent city'

The menu is varied - Craw Dads, Ham, Mustard Roast, and Shrimp.  Of course, the best part is the presentation by the many 'cooks' that arrived.  Have you ever noticed that no one, yep no one ever turns down a 'favorite dish'.

Activities are self generated --  Euchre, Campfires, Trips to Town, Two Track Rides, Quads, Slimming, and Water Fights - just to mention a few.  Of course, just setting around and talking catching up on this or that is enjoyable.

Did ya know that Ma turns into one of the best 'short order cooks' around.  Folks have full use of the kitchen, but are pretty much on their own.  Since a good share of the folks arrive Friday Evening - Ma always has something special.
